The Youth Leadership Institute is a fun environment for high school students to explore ethical
leadership principles, learn about the value of community service and be inspired to bring passionate service to their
community. To put it another way, YLI develops and encourages you to make an impact on your community.
YLI is a five-day, hands-on leadership training program designed specifically to help
you be a leader in your school and community. Experienced facilitators and community leaders provide this hands-on program
for a select group of high school students from the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan Area.
You will learn about Core Leadership Concepts, Leadership Styles, Ethics of Responsible Leadership, Team
Building, Small Group Interaction, Self Awareness and the value of Civic Engagement. YLI graduates discover a keen awareness
of their own leadership potential and develop the skills necessary to be a successful leader.
By sponsoring YLI, the Overland Park Rotary Club Foundation, in association with Johnson County Community College, seeks
to inspire you to apply your leadership skills and passion to help make our community
a better place to live, work and play.

How much does YLI cost?
YLI’s all inclusive tuition is just $195. Tuition covers all supplies, meals and field trip transportation
to and from the JCCC campus. If an applicant cannot afford all or a part of the tuition, he or she can apply for
a tuition assistance from the Foundation and/or volunteer to serve as an intern with the YLI Committee.
